Tasha Arlova

Tasha Arlova (b. 1989) is a visual artist, filmmaker, and lecturer based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In her films, Arlova explores the different ways in which her identity is shaped by both her homeland, Belarus, and her new home in the Netherlands. Tasha's exhibitions and performative lectures offer insight into a process of empowerment, both her own and that of the generation which sparked the Belarusian protests in 2020. Not afraid to approach big social and political questions from a personal perspective, her work is a powerful and poetic account of what it means to grapple with the histories that shape us.

Arlova holds a BA in Photography from Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her work has been exhibited in the Netherlands at Arti et Amicitae, Felix Meritis, Dordrechts Museum, De Balie, KunstRAI, as well as internationally at Westwerk (DE), Mystetskyi Arsenal (UA), and Sofia Art Week (BG). She has also hosted lectures and talks at various institutions including the University of Amsterdam, Gerrit Rietveld Academy, International Institute of Social History, De Balie, and within the programs of IDFA and Movies that Matter film festival (NL).

In 2021-2022, Tasha was awarded an AFK 3Package Deal development grant and presented her work at the International Art Festival in Felix Meritis, Amsterdam (NL).
